Skate Fashion

Skate Fashion

Skate fashion is synonymous with cool streetwear. A lot of young people emulate the style of skateboarders as the look is very laid back and gives a vibe of being a part of the in-crowd. There are many influences of skate fashion, including punk music and the surfing lifestyle of California. If you want to try this look, here are 3 basic things you need to know:

Skateboarders do a lot of movement when they skate, so make sure that the clothes you wear are comfortable. You also have to make sure that the clothes are flexible, like a real skater, imagine your clothes will be stretched, twisted, ripped, and faded from all that movement. But you also have to keep in mind that your clothes shouldn’t be too loose that they fall off. Wear skinny jeans instead of really baggy ones, and shirts should slightly fit your body but not too much that they restrict circulation.

Know the Brands
There are several skate-inspired clothing companies in the market and it’s always ideal that you equip yourself with the knowledge of the major brands that most real skaters are actually wearing. The popular brands include Vans, Volcom, Element, Analog, DC, Zoo York, Hurley, and Billabong. Sneakers are the number one thing that you should invest on when you want to look like a skater. Invest in some really good sneakers from some of the mentioned brands to really look the part.

Don’t overdo it
Once you know the brands and once you’ve picked out the comfortable pieces of clothing, don’t don skate fashion from head to toe or you’ll look like you’re trying too much. Never wear a Vans hat, a Vans t-shirt, a Vans pair of pants, and Vans sneakers altogether. Always mix and match. You can wear an unknown t-shirt line with a good pair of skinny jeans and your Vans sneakers.

The key to skate fashion is to look like you don’t care – so don’t think too much be comfortable, and head your way down the street in skate fashion.
